Heather Lake Trail Hike

Jason,

Update- Yesterday, Jon finished his negotiations on purchasing the "Irish Lady," and now its just a matter of going through steps to purchase his dream sailboat that will take us around Vancouver come the beginning of June- that's the audacious goal anyway! Until then, we have got a lot to learn about sailing, especially Justin and I who have never really sailed a day in our lives. Jon, on the other hand, has been racing on a team for a while and at least knows the basics, but we all have a lot to learn. We will be in Hawaii in three days, it's a tough life I know, so for now we are just enjoying spring time in Washington as we all should.

Heather Lake- We got invited to go on a hike with some friends up to Heather Lake on monday and so we hopped on the opportunity as we usually do. We met up with our friends Matt, Mariah, and their two friends Lennie, and Mario at the trail head, we headed off on the trail, through the woods, like the seven dwarfs, and slowly made our way up the two mile trek to the majestic lake. This time of year the forest is teeming with new life and the snow melting vigorously, creating plenty of streams to try to hop around and through. Making it to the lake, Ben, Maria, and Matt decided to dive into the frigid water, making for great entertainment. Of course, I would have jumped in but I'm fighting a minor cold, at least that's what I'm telling myself. The lake is nested on the North Eastern part of Mt Pilchuck which is only a twenty minute drive east of Granite Falls, and is a great family friendly, well groomed, old growth forest hike with breathtaking scenery. Highly Recommended! After enjoying the majestic views, our lunch, and our unexpected entertainment, we made our way back down through the forest and called it a day. For you that are interested in the hike, I have attached a link at the bottom of this post for driving directions, details, and a summary of hike.
